Some photos from the 30th Annual Messier Bonspiel. Wow I was sore before the 3 games we played we even done. Then in more as the week went on. The kids enjoyed a hint of spring at the park across the street.

Thursday’s is piano class for Erika. She will be playing at an event in 2 weeks and be graded. Then another receital in December. We are practicing Jingle Bells with 2 hands ..well one hand fir sure.

Robinhood.ca celebrated a 100 years of making baking memories as the website explains. So they are offering a Bakeshop Experience for families to come in and take part in a baking session. Justin and Erika both loved their 90 minutes of making and baking with the team at this makeshift bakeshop.

So they had the kids colour and decorate their bakers box where the cookies would go once they were finished layering sugar icing and sprinkles of candy ontop of the little creations. Justin made cookies that looked like bugs and Erika chose Fish cookies. Here is a few minutes of video of how things went down finishing off with Justin sneaking some icing into his mouth towards the end !

Justin started ice skating lessons today it did very good. Looks like only a few things more to pass and the coach wants to move him to the next level. We practiced this week on roller blades at the school across the street 3 times and it paid off big time.

He is stronger this year and with a Hockey stick in his hand finds a way to get a move on. Walking into the dressing room, tightening the skates and sliding on the helmet brought back memories of me in my shamrock hockey jersey from Parry Sound for sure. Justin has that spark in his eye for hockey…. asking as we left the dressing room… “dad I want to go watch the hockey players practice on the other rink”… then started to ask if there was a family skate in the afternoon we could go to.

We spent a week in St Margarets Bay just outside Halifax visiting The Martins. We had not seen our cousins in a long time and boy did we have a blast. We narrowed down the 1200 photos down to 170+ here for you in our Trip Slideshow!

Justin’s class went to Puck’s Farm last week and had a blast. These are some of the photos taken by mom as she chaperoned along with some of the other parents.

Justin chose to have his Birthday at “Reptillia” this year as he turned 5.  Mostly boys and a few girls to hang with Erika they all had a good time from Cake to Snakes!

So now onto Turtles, Snakes and Crocodiles. Kevin our in-room helper was excellent with the kids and at teaching about each of the reptiles Justin and his friends got to touch. Even mommy had a breakthrough and barely touched a snake!

From Piano Recital June 2009

Erika is in her second year of Suzuki Paino now. This is her 3rd Recital which takes place at a church about 30 minutes north of where we live. It’s a good time to see the kids get dressed up and then perform in front of a room full of family.

Her learning is still all visual and auditory. She has started to learn some notes but no reading songs from books and playing them yet.

First up… ” Go Tell Aunt Rodie”

After the intermission Erika is up again with “Little Playmates” - She looks back for that connection before the song and then after is smirking because she was proud of herself… as was I.
